Situation:

West Michigan Uniform is a third-generation family owned business providing uniform services to Michigan companies. With a slogan, “Our Service Is Our ONLY Contract”, it was important for WMU to develop a wash aisle system that meets the needs of the customers they serve.

Objective:

Separate bulk items from garment processing by adding a second automated wash aisle to meet increasing production demands.

Results:

Softrol controls were incorporated into a set of wash aisle equipment to save space and to automate bulk item processing, including mats, F&B / C.O.G. work. In addition to space savings, the system keeps labor costs down and allows for future growth.

Ratio-metric washing provides the correct chemical and water usage with varying load weights.
Dryer controls include a precise drying algorithm to end the heat cycle automatically when the desired level of water removal is accomplished, greatly saving time and fuel.

Project Details:

Used equipment was purchased and fitted with Softrol’s latest MicroPulse controllers and AutoPulse automation to match that of the garment wash aisle control system. The equipment includes pocket loading conveyors with scales that discharge into individual washer/extractors, an inclined shuttle that handles the automatic transfer to the dryers, and discharge conveyors that bring mats to the mat area and the balance of work to a second process point.
